Liz Faraglia (she/her)
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in the State of New York with 5 years of licensed clinical therapy experience.
My Path to Becoming a Therapist
In the 2010’s I was working in the performing arts world as a performer, theater teacher and special education paraprofessional, where my work revealed a deep need for accessible mental health spaces. Additionally, my lived experiences as a bionic athlete and queer woman reinforced the importance of therapy spaces to aid in supporting folks as they navigate the hurdles of life. These personal and professional experiences eventually led me to pursue my Masters in Social Work at NYU in 2018.
Since then, I have committed my clinical skills to community health, supporting LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals through life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and systemic challenges. I am passionate about ensuring equitable care through anti-oppressive practices and challenging systemic harm through my care as a clinician and throughout my personal life.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
I’m an energetic and outgoing person with a natural curiosity about others, always excited to meet new people. I’m often described as someone who can “make friends with a wall” because I genuinely enjoy connecting with others and love learning about what makes each person unique!
Additionally, I believe that you are the expert of your life and know yourself best. I use this belief to aid my therapy practice in ensuring your care is what you need and not a generic approach to everyone. Specifically, I like to take a relational approach to therapy to aid in creating a space where you can truly be your authentic self! My style is conversational and warm and my goal is for you to feel comfortable, safe and supported. I'm not the type of therapist to just "listen and nod"—I engage with curiosity, ask thoughtful questions, and provide feedback to help you work toward your therapy goals. I take pride in building genuine relationships with my clients, ensuring you feel seen, respected, and valued, no matter what you're bringing to therapy or the identities you hold.
Fun Tidbits
When I am not providing therapy, I enjoy being in nature either hiking or kayaking, lifting weights at the gym, reading my next book club book, cuddling with my two cats, or watching some sort of Rom-Com Holiday movie (yes even outside of the holiday months) and eating popcorn with chopsticks.
